Barbara Hay has written a series for middle grade boys. They get to go on all kinds of adventures from fishing to roping and many other types. As you can tell on the cover of the book, Dru has caught a giant catfish. The boys were fishing on private lands and didn't have permission. They had lied about where they caught the fish. Eventually they learned that one lie leads to another and another to cover them up.
The illustrations are very cartoonish and perfect for the boys (and even girls) at the age level that the book was written for.
I do recommend that girls also read these books. They can do just as much as boys can and even my girls love to fish and I've seen many girls doing rodeos.
